Please take a minute and read this. The comments about this might be the last year for the GTW CN Santa Train were deleted.
If this is the final year for this train, that would be sad. It's been a long tradition on the GTW and now the CN, but as Railfans, we are not in a position to make judgement on what CN decides to do in the future.
Years ago when this train started it visited just about all of the major Terminals on the GTW. The crews on the train were volunteers, usually the crews were Union Officials representing the different Transportation Unions, BLE, UTU.
The Staff on the trains were also volunteers. The train itself was made ready in the Port Huron Car Shop.
The train now comes out of Chicago. It makes a circle trip around the Michigan Division, and then returns to Chicago.
And as sad as it may sound, there are not enough CN Management Personnel left in Michigan to really prepare and manage these events.
Please, everybody look at the photographs, and videos of the GTW CN Santa Train, but keep the comments about what CN does, or doesn't do to yourself. The Grand Trunk Western Tracker Facebook site is not the place for that.
